SHOW JOURNAL : 2008
All Over but the Banquets
SFD had a respectable show season. Laura and I spent most of our show season sitting in judge's boxes for the L program, but did hit a few shows. Our students managed to hold their own just fine without Laura and I coaching. Here's the list:
USDF, AHA & PHR Awards
Victoria B. and SA Pentacle:
- Adequan/USDF All-Breed Junior/Young Rider Training Level Champion (more on this below
- )Adequan/USDF All-Breed Open Award, Training Level Fifth Place
- First level Achievement Award from USDF
- First level Dressage Rider Pin from AHA
- Victoria earned her Rider of Honor with AHA
- Pene earned his Legion of Honor
Carol L and Salford's Merrick:
- Training level Achievement award from USD
- 4th place for Region 2 from PHR
- 11th nationally for training level Adult Matures from PHR
OVCTA, DVCTA and FCDA Awards
Victoria F and Clyde (Silver Lining):
- Achievement Award at training Level from OVCTA
- 3rd Place overall high points from FCDA
- 2nd place junior high points from FCDA
- 2nd place amateur dressage from FCDA
Statesman's Eclipse and Venus and I:
- Eclipse won OVCTA's Second level Championship Class at the Big Fall Show
- Eclipse also won DVCTA's Second Level Championship Class at the Big Fall Show
- Venus was Reserve Champion in OVCTA's First Level Championship Class at the Big Fall Show
- Venus was Reserve Champion in DVCTA's First Level Championship Class at the Big Fall Show
Region 1 Adult Team Competition
Laura J. and I were part of the DVCTA's first place second level team. Laura and Oberon were reserve champion for the team competition day, Eclipse and I were reserve champion for the individual competition day.
What's an "All-Breeds Horse of the Year" Award?
Yea, I know, Victoria B. won something else. Seems kinda dull after a while. That is, until she goes and wins a National award...
The funniest part about it was her mom, who is meticulous about archiving her standings and results, didn't see this one coming. They called one day and said they received a medal in the mail, and wondered if it was a big deal.
My answer? "WOW"
So our own Victoria B. is the proud recipient of the Jr./YR Arab Training Level All-Breeds Award, meaning she had the highest average score of any Jr on an Arabian at USDF shows showing in the US. The pair gave the adults a run for their money too--they were 5th in Open Training Level Arabians.
Devon Results
I love riding in the Dixon Oval. Plus you've just got to love a horse show that sells funnel cakes. We took three horses, and two humans competed.
Our results:
- Venus and I placed 2nd in Suitability to Become a Dressage Horse, 6-year-olds.
- Victoria and Silver Lining placed 4th in Jr. Handler and 6th in Dressage Seat Equitation.
- Atticus placed 9th in Suitability to Become a Dressage Horse, 4-year-olds.
And we got fresh funnel cakes, what more could we ask for?
